How do check-ins work?
A manager and an employee look back at a stretch of work together, put it in writing, and both sign.
A person's line manager, or someone with HR access, starts a check-in under People & crew → Check-ins: the period it covers and the goals. They add notes and a rating from 1 to 5, and share it when it's ready. Until then the employee doesn't see it.
The employee reads it, adds their own comment, and signs with their own name. The manager signs their side. Nobody signs for anyone else, and nobody writes their own. Once both have signed it is fixed; a correction is added as a note on the bottom, never an edit.
Each check-in shows the work on record for the period — checks closed, deficiencies found, rework, and safety reports filed — counted when the manager signs. A safety report the person filed counts in their favor. An injury never counts against anyone, and is never part of a check-in.
A check-in is seen by the employee, their current line manager and your HR people — not by other managers, project managers, a previous manager or Veristep's staff. Waiting signatures show in each person's Inbox.
- I can't start one for someone
- You're not their line manager. Your admin sets line managers on the org chart.
- The sign button is missing
- It hasn't been shared yet, or the manager still has to give a rating.
- We need to change something after signing
- Add a correction at the bottom. The signed version stays as it was.
