How does the plan and billing screen work?
What you are on, what it costs, and the one button that changes either.
Settings → Plan & billing is what your firm has with Veristep: the plan you are on, what it agreed to, and the projects with an open check this month — the ones the per-project fee counts. It is not the same thing as Billing under Business: that screen is your own invoicing of the work you can prove — closed checks, recorded hours, counted days — handed to your QuickBooks.
You upgrade right here, by card or by invoice, and you don't have to start with a trial.
Projects are counted for you. A project counts in a month when at least one of its checks was open at any point in that month while you were on the paid plan. One open check or forty, it counts once. A check cancelled as a mistake never counts. The page lists the projects counting so far this month.
A card-billed firm also gets a Billing button: the card on file, every invoice and receipt, and cancelling at the end of the period, all on Stripe's page. If a payment fails, Stripe retries the card for a while and the page says so; nothing is switched off while it is trying. If it never clears, the plan ends the way any plan ends: read-only, with the ninety-day export window open.
If the workspace has gone read-only — a trial that ran out, or a plan that ended — this is also where you come back. An archived workspace pays its reactivation fee the same way: by card on Stripe's page, with the first month, or by asking for an invoice. The fee is stated on the page itself before you do either.
- Pay by card
- Pick monthly or yearly. Yearly is two months free, on the platform and on the branded workspace. You're sent to Stripe's secure payment page, the card never touches Veristep, and the plan is on the moment the payment clears, exports included.
- Pay by invoice
- Ask us from this page and we set up an agreement. You're billed by invoice, net 30, payable by card, ACH or bank transfer straight from the invoice. That's how a firm that pays by purchase order upgrades. Your workspace is on from the day we start it.
- Skip the trial
- Choose to pay monthly or yearly when you create the workspace and you go straight to payment.
- The branded workspace
- Turn the add-on on or off here too. On a card plan it joins your subscription; on an invoiced plan it joins the invoice.
- What each project costs
- More projects cost less each. In any month, projects 1–4 are $495 each, 5–8 are $445, 9–12 are $395, and every project after the twelfth is $345. The invoice shows each band on its own line.
- When projects are billed
- On a card plan, the month's projects are billed on the 1st of the next month, on their own invoice to the same card, whether you pay the platform monthly or yearly. Each line names the projects it covers. Trial time is never billed.
