What does Adoption do?

Bring a prior QA firm's records onto your register when you're picking up a job mid-project.

Adoption exists for the job that didn't start with you — a prior commissioning firm did the first stretch, and you're taking over with their paper (or their own software's export) in hand rather than a blank register.

Bring in what they already captured — machines, documents, prior inspection results — and it lands on your register attributed to where it actually came from, not rewritten as if your firm did the original work. From that point forward, your own hold points and gates apply exactly as they would to a machine you started on day one.

It's a sweep you run once per job at handover, not an ongoing sync — there's no live connection back to whatever system the prior firm used.
