This is the commissioning part of Veristep: the L0–L5 sequence, earned in the field and worn as a colour tag on the machine.
This used to be a spreadsheet tab tracking status by colour-coded cell, updated by whoever remembered to open the file, with nothing to stop a level being marked complete before its evidence existed. The tag on the machine, the status in the spreadsheet and the story a technician told at the morning meeting routinely disagreed with each other.
The record shows the exact level each machine has earned, the evidence behind it, and who signed each step — the same answer on the asset, the register and the printed tag. A commissioning authority or an owner's rep trusts the colour on sight, without opening a folder or asking around to check it.

L1 red at factory acceptance, L2 yellow at install, L3 blue at energize, L4 green at functional — read the state from across the room.

The current level shows on the asset, on the register and printed on the QR sticker, so the field, the office and the sticker never disagree.
An industry standard, not a home-grown status
The progression follows CSI 01 91 00, and it is not skippable.
Retests scheduled when a test fails
A failed functional test opens the retest; the level waits for it.
The turnover package builds as levels close
Every closed step is already in the package, attributed and dated. The owner reads it in their portal.
A level cannot be claimed. It has to be earned.
The evidence for each level is named in the template — the readings, the witness, the report — and the level does not move until it is there.
